5 Foods that Boost Your Mood
Eat it for your brain: A handful of MultiGrain Cheerios or Kashi Heart to Heart offers folic acid, which can help fend off the blues. Those with low levels of the nutrient experience more symptoms of depression, a study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health suggests, and a folic acid deficiency may prevent your antidepressants from working.
Eat it for your body: A quick bowl of whole-grain cereal brims with iron and vitamins, and gets your metabolism humming—and it sure beats skipping breakfast altogether, since that can lead to all sorts of problems later in the day. People who skipped breakfast only once every three months were 34 percent more likely to be obese than those who didn't, according to a study from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. So even if your body doesn't want it when you first wake up, find a breakfast you can live with, and eat up.
FISH
Eat it for your brain: Those with the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids, found in several kinds of fish, were happier than those with lower levels, a study from the University of Pittsburgh reveals. Omega-3 fatty acids enhance areas of the brain that affect disposition. Certain fish also pack B12, a known mood booster, which wards off the doldrums by stimulating the brain's production of serotonin, helping you relax. Aim to eat two servings of low-mercury fish (like catfish, cod, crab, flounder and halibut) weekly for more smiles!
Eat it for your body: Wild salmon, trout, herring and other cold-water fish are filled with vitamin D, which helps curb appetite, as well as omega 3's, which lower the risk for heart disease. Research also shows that eating fish regularly improves insulin insensitivity, which helps build muscle and decrease belly fat.
EGG YOLKS
Eat them for your brain: Feel sunnier by adding a bit of yellow. Egg yolks contain choline, a mood enhancer. Being low on this nutrient could lead to feeling anxious.
Eat them for your body: Yolks act as a multivitamin, delivering vitamins A and D, as well as folate and calcium.
CHOCOLATE
Eat it for your brain: Sweeten your mood by indulging your chocolate urges. Half of depressed people reported craving chocolate, and most of them felt soothed after indulging, according to a survey in The British Journal of Psychiatry. Since chomping too much chocolate sends you into a sugar coma, munch just 1 ounce and savor every bite!
Eat it for your body: Eating a couple ounces of dark chocolate a week (about one Ghirardelli square a day) may cut your risk for heart disease by 33 percent, according to a study in The Journal of Nutrition. Plus, it has more disease-fighting antioxidants than green tea, red wine or blueberries. Perhaps Willy Wonka was on to something!
FRUITS & VEGGIES
Eat them for your brain: Want a buzz booster? Frequent the produce aisle! People who ate the most fruits and veggies were least likely to feel depressed, a study by the University College London found.
Eat them for your body: Munching the recommended 2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cups of veggies a day reduces your calorie intake and bolsters your immunity. The darker and more colorful, the better! The shades in fruits and vegetables come from phytonutrients, which protect different organs. For example, lutein in greens protects your eyes, while lycopene-packed red tomatoes shield your heart. Color yourself healthy!

Heart's Day @ Puerto Galera
took a bus (Batangas Starexpress Liner if i'm not mistaken). Php167 ang fare.Siguro mga 2 hours ang biyahe. At the port we choose to take the Commando's ferry.Php450 roundtrip/Php250-one way.We thought na by 7:15 aalis na yung ferry in fairness ang tagal ha.Pero ayon sa mga fellow nabasa ko mabilis naman daw yung ferry na yun.So sige hayaan na lang namin.Pinuno pa kasi yung ferry. At around 9am nasa Puerto Galera na kami.
We stayed at Sea View Divers (Php1000/nyt).It was located on the farmost left pag baba mo ng ferry. As in nasa dulo siya.We occupy the 2 rooms there kasi there were 11 of us. We bring foods na pala so pahinga lang konti then kain na kami. The room
can occupy 6 person.May 1 bed and 2 mattress on the floor na pagdating namin. It has a bathroom inside,a tv but does'nt have a fridge.May terrace din sila in which you can see the beach.Mataas kasi yung place so we can see it.
After we had our early lunch we decided na magswimming na.Parang ang sarap kasi ng tubig. We did'nt mind th
e heat.Swimming nga eh!Plus the fact na nasa dulo kami and we can do whatever we want to do there.
When we were tired of swimming we decided to take a walk along the shore. There we find some bangkeros and offered us to have an island hopping and snorkeling. We haggle for some of them and find a good price. For Php1500 it includes island and snorkeling. We decided to grab it kasi there were 9 of us interested for that and paghahatian na lang namin. At 1pm we were all set for the trip.
Snorkeling ang first stop namin. They call it Coral Garden. In fairness ang ganda!ang laki ng mga corals and mejo natakot ako kasi nakaksugat daw
iyon.It was my second time to do snorkeling. So I already have the idea kung ano ang mga ggawin dun.Mejo makati lang dun kasi ang daming jelly fish. Nakakita din ako ng ahas!Hahaha.Takot talaga ako dun.We paid Php100/each for the tourguides s snorkeling site.Hindi kasi pwede pumunta yung bangka na sinakyan namin kaya we transferred sa mas maliit na bangka.
Next stop namin ay sa isang Island.I forgot the name ng island!hehehe..pero it was
cool.Picture kami dito ng sobra. After that may pupuntahan pa kami na island but too bad biglang umulan.Medyo nagpanic kami xe natakot kami sa alon.So we decided na bumalik na lang sa resort.
pwede kasi baka magkasunog dapat daw may lagayan kami.So tinulungan kami ng caretaker dun and hinanapan talaga kami ng pang bonfire!2nd day namin on Galera.Ang aga ko nagising!Kain lang ng konti and naglakad lakad ako with my friends.Kahit saan picture lang ng picture!

3:00pm ang balik ng ferry namin papuntang Batangas.Nag-check out na kami ng maaga.Yung iba namili pa ng mga pasalubong and souvenirs.Ang mura lang din ng mga souvenirs dun ha.Like the t-shirt you can buy it for Php90 sa white color. Then my dress then Php120 ata yun.Yung mga keychains 3 for 100.I bought sarong for Php120.Not bad.May mga nag-ooffer din ng massage dun Php200,braid Php100 and my henna tattoo Php100 minimum size yun.

My Sisig Experience

2 kg pork head skin (caperosa*)
*Caperosa is the term used to denote the skin around the head of a pig.
Grill pork head skin to singe off hair. When the hair has been burned off, boil the skin until tender, then slice into small cubes.
In a saucepan, heat cooking oil; then sauté the garlic, onions, and chili. Add the meat & pork liver, and let simmer until golden brown. Make a mixture of fish sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, bouillon & black pepper, then pour the broth into the cooking meat and let it simmer for ten minutes. To finish cooking the dish, pour it on a hot sizzling plate, and top with chicharon/pork rind bits.
To add a bit of tartness to the taste, squeeze a piece of calamansi or lemon on the dish.
Sisig can be served on its own (it’s known as a pulutan/beer match), or it can be served with rice. Some restaurants serve their Sisig on a sizzling plate, and they break an egg onto it and allow it to cook right on the sisig. Others serve it with mayo on the side, because it enhances the flavor of the Sisig.
1 cup chopped pork liver
Mix this sauce into the rest of the Sisig. Add ½ cup chopped (non-spicy) green chili pepper to the mix. Top generously with chopped chicharon, and even deep fried garlic chips, if you like.

Tips for Contact Lens Wearers
A question many newbie wearers have is: "How can I tell if my contact lens is inside-out?"
The trick is to place the lens on your finger so that a cup is formed. Then hold
If the lens forms a "U" with the top edges flared out, it's inside out. If it forms just a "U," it's in the correct position.
If the lens forms a "U" with the top edges flared out, it's inside out. If it forms just a "U," it's in the correct position.
If you're wearing lenses with a handling tint, another way is to place the lens on your fingertip and then look down at it. The edge of a tinted lens should look very blue (or green, depending on the tint); that won't be the case if the lens is inverted.
Some contact lenses also have a laser marking, such as the brand name, on the edge to help you. If you can read it properly, the lens is not inside out. Don't worry if you place a contact lens in your eye inside out. The lens will feel uncomfortable, but it can't do any damage.
Applying Your Contact Lenses
Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before applying your contact lenses, but avoid overly scented or oily soaps that might adhere to the lens surface. Especially avoid using products containing lanolin.
Some ye doctors say to always apply the first contact lens in the same eye, so you'll avoid the possibility of mixing up lenses for the right eye and left eye.
Other basic guidelines for contact lens application include:
- Gently shake your lens case containing the storage solution, to loosen the contact lens should it be stuck. (Don't try pulling at the lens with your finger, or you might damage it.)
- Slide the lens out of its case and into the palm of your hand. Rinse thoroughly with the appropriate contact lens solution.
- Place the contact lens on the tip of your index or middle finger, which should be dry or mostly dry.
- With the fingers and thumb of your other hand, simultaneously pull up on your upper eyelid and down on your lower eyelid.
- Position the lens on your eye while looking upward or forward, whichever you find to be easier. You also can apply the contact lens by placing it on the white of the eye closest to your ear.
- Roll your eyes in a complete circle to help the lens settle, then blink.
Removing Your Contact Lenses
Always wash your hands before removing contact lenses. If you are standing in front of a sink, make sure you use a clean paper towel to cover the drain where the contact lens might accidentally fall.
To remove soft contact lenses, look upward or sideways while you pull down on your lower eyelid. With a finger, gently maneuver the lens onto the white of your eye. There, you can very gently pinch the lens together with your index finger and thumb and lift it off the eye. Until you master contact lens removal, you might consider keeping your fingernails clipped to avoid accidentally scratching and damaging your eye.
Rigid contact lenses can be removed by holding out the palm of your hand, bending over, and then opening your eye wide. With one finger of your other hand, pull on the skin of your eye's outside corner straight out toward your ear with your eye wide open. Then blink. The contact lens should pop right out and into your open palm.
Devices for removing contact lenses, known as "plungers," also are available from your eye doctor, and can be used to touch and directly remove a lens from your eye. Just make sure you touch only the lens and not your eye's surface with this device.
While you might hear a myth or two about someone "losing" a contact lens in the back of the eye, this is actually impossible because of a membrane that connects your eye to the back of your eyelid.
